Non-formal Primary EducationDuration: since 2002
Location: Charghat upazilla (subdistrict), Rajshahi District Donor: BRAC The project seeks to educate the drop out students in the rural areas. It manages 23 schools, where 300 students get the three years primary education course. There are about 30 children in each school who attend the school every day except Friday. The program targets children dropped out from governmental and other schools. The reasons why the children don’t attend another schools differ. For most of them it is difficult to reach the school because of long distances from home and due to bad weather conditions during the monsoon season. That is why Thanapara Swallows Development Society builds schools also in remote areas to ensure school attendance of all children in the district. |
The children learn four main subjects every day – Bangla, English, Mathematics and General science. Thanks to songs, dances and games the everyday education is more interesting for both teachers and children. Compared to other elementary schools in Bangladesh, this program takes only three years. The teachers have to go through the whole knowledge which the children in governmental schools gain in five years.
The non-formal education program is established in cooperation with an international non-governmental organization BRAC. |
